What to Expectfrom your first session

Getting Started

Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar. The first session is simply a conversation, and you don't need to know exactly where to begin.

Your First Session

No Speech Required

Before

Arrive Without Rushing

Arrive a few minutes early if you can. There is no need to prepare a speech or have everything figured out before you arrive.

During

Start With a Conversation

We'll talk about what's happening, what has and hasn't been working, important parts of your history, and your goals for therapy.

After

Map the Next Step

By the end, we'll usually have a clearer understanding of the challenges, hoped-for outcomes, and whether ongoing therapy would be beneficial.

Ongoing

Set the Right Pace

Some people need a handful of sessions. Others prefer longer-term support. The focus is always on helping you move forward.

What If I Don't Know What to Say?

This is one of the most common concerns people have before their first appointment. Part of my role is helping guide the conversation through questions, observations, and practical discussion.

Will We Talk About My Childhood?

Sometimes. Sometimes not. The focus isn't on analysing your past for the sake of it, but important experiences can help explain patterns that are still affecting you today.

In-Person or Online

Sessions are available in Stafford, Brisbane, or online Australia-wide. The format changes, but the focus remains practical and respectful.

The Project Isn't the Focus

For some clients, sitting face-to-face and talking works well. For others, conversations come more naturally when there's something practical happening alongside them.

No experience is necessary. The project isn't the focus. The conversation is.

Ready to get started?

The hardest part is often reaching out. Everything after that is simply a conversation.
