What is Timber Therapy?

Simply, it’s the combination of counselling and woodwork.

I incorporated woodwork into my social work practice as I noted how often men needed to use their hands to feel comfortable sharing what was going on in their lives. Upon reflecting with men after a few sessions, a common theme emerged: creating something rather than consuming anything brought a sense meaning, pride and purpose. The item they made often served as a tangible reminder of our discussions, anchoring them to our sessions each time they saw or used it. You don’t need any prior woodworking experience to get the benefits of Timber Therapy.

What is Group Work?

I deliver group work programs designed to engage young men, fathers, and families in addressing specific challenges identified by services, organizations, or their families. Through these short programs, participants receive targeted support to navigate and overcome obstacles they may be facing. These sessions often focus on creating a group item in which everyone can participate, fostering a sense of shared pride and achievement. To discuss group work, please feel free to contact me.
